Real Happiness Week Three: Day 18: Meditation on Working with Thoughts

In working with my thoughts this morning, I literally had a pain in the neck! My thoughts went to quite the variety: I should change my sleeping position, Oh no, my shoulder aches too, Why am I in pain?, What if it doesn’t stop? Will it ever stop? Will I ever be “normal” again? I’m tired of all these physical challenges popping up? and so on.

Yet, when we work with our thoughts, we can use the techniques of clouds in the sky and our awareness being the blue sky.  I can also pay attention to the emotions that arise in conjunction with the thoughts. These too I can acknowledge and release in a cloud. I am not these thoughts and challenges, but I can allow them to be what they are and then kindly let them go.

On Tuesday’s meditation livestream I used the “leaves on a stream” for our experience. You place the thoughts or emotions on the leaf and let it float away. You can access it below.
